...chocolate brown to a wedding?
I've found a beautiful floor length halter-neck dress, but I'm not sure if wearing brown to a wedding is a faux pas. Thing is, I'm not really a 'pastel' person, and want to buy something I will wear again.
The other issue is the halter neck. It's quite low at the back - just below bra-strap, so I'll have to go bra-less, which is fine as I'm not exactly well-endowed! But is this too much flesh on show? I've got a shrug type thing to cover up a bit, but obviously I want to feel able to take that off.
I SO hate dressing for weddings - it's such a minefield.

The dress sounds lovely and I don't see any problems with wearing brown to a wedding either. I don't do pastels either.

That sounds fine, I don't see a problem with that at all. If it is a church wedding you may feel more comfortable keeping the shrug on until after the service, but it really doesn't sound very revealing or at all inappropriate.

I wore a chocolate brown silk dress to my friend's wedding last March. I didn't even imagine it could have been a faux pas.
Your dress sounds lovely and you do have a shrug to cover up any potential flesh revealing, which I don't really forsee as being a problem as you're not showing your legs.
Is it in a church?you'd probably be best covering up in church and taking it off for the reception.

Nobody's ever batted an eyelid when I've worn it - I think the danger areas are white, cream and anything remotely bridal or flounced.
