how to sell my necklace?
Hi,
i got a Tiffany's necklace for christmas from my ex-OH, platinum chain with a diamond pendant. Now that he has broken up with me and i need money, i thought about selling it and had it evaluated. The chain had a Tiffany's sign on it or smth and is worth 65£, but the pendant didn't, which was surprising, since they should always be marked.
The guy estimated that the pendant is worth about 400£ (judging by the diamond's colour and clarity), but since there was no certificate(which should also be included in the gift bow, but wasn't in my case) he couldn't confirm the price.
Now, apart from thinking where the hell did he buy the pendant from??!!! i'm also left wondering how on earth can i sell it if i can't prove it's Tiffany's(hope it is)?
I really do need the money and don't like him very much right now, so would be happy to get rid of it and make some money instead, but how?!
anyone?

Apart from the snob value in being Tiffany, it does have inherent value which you can get a certificate for. It's a bit iffy selling jewellery either to second hand dealers or on the internet - you can get lucky and make back your money or you can lose. The insurance value is seldom the value you get back when you sell it unfortunately unless it is rare or of a particular vintage.

If he bought a plain chain from Tiffany and got the diamond bit from somewhere else then you can't really sell it as Tiffany- the most valuable bit is from somewhere else. You could sell each part separately?
