When you sell on ebay, do you generally make a profit or a loss or break even?
I have a terrible habit of buying things in multiples 'to sell on ebay' but if you factor in the faff-factor involved with ebay (all the photos and writing descriptions and packaging posting and and admin plus fees) it's not that often I make a big enough profit to make it worthwhile. It doesn't stop me living in eternal hope of making a killing though!

I haven't sold anything on eBay to comment directly from experience. From what I've seen browsing to buy on eBay, Primark items rarely go for less than there retail price, mainly because they're so cheap in the first place and people will overcharge on postage. But as you say, not necessarily great profits.
Making a killing, I suppose, is about being lucky enough to nab something that sells very quickly, everyone hears about, but aren't restocked at all or for a long time, e.g. the sequin shrugs and leopard print ballet pumps (I bought some of these myself, knowing the seller was profitting, but I really wanted them), unlike, say the skinnies, which at first would've made a good profit, but now there's plenty of stock.

I tend to sell most of my stuff to second hand shops as they do all the work and most of the time they let me set my price - specially for heres. The rest of the stuff I put up on a sales bulletin board where I can set my price and it's done.
I find that there are so many timewasters though - people who have no intention of buying but just take the piss. People who try to haggle and tell you your prices are too high (when they are so clearly not). People that ask you to take pictures of it over your shoulder at this angle and that angle and from the back - for a £5 here!!!
What I make tends to be enough to fund my here habit. I have thought about doing it fulltime but I don't know if the effort would be worth it.

I made a profit on the galaxy dresses I sold before Christmas, I ordered them from the website (2 sizes because I didn't know which would fit) but they were too short on me. I could have sent them back, but decided to ebay them to see what would happen - they sold for £80 each (think they cost £40?).
But when I clear out my clothes and sell them, I never make a profit, and I'm in the terrible habit of estimating my shipping charges, rather than working them out properly so a couple of times have had to pay the extra myself!
I find ebay a bit too much of a faff to make serious money on, and I think I'd feel bad selling Primark stuff and not saying where it's from. I've bought crap on ebay that I've been disappointed in, and I'd hate to do that to others. I'm just too nice! :D

I also feel guilty when I do make a profit popoki. I feel like I am cheating people. Maybe that is a sign I will never be a business genius!:o
