Feeling foxy when you're 16+ - the summer edition

Feeling foxy when you're 16+ - the summer edition
Now we've had enought time to look at the majority of the summer stock, what will we be buying in a 16+?
So far my summer purchases are few and far between:
- The Asda broderie anglaise dress in blue, and one in white, for £12
- New style M and S t-shirts in lots of colours for £5 each
- Cropped oatmeal Monsoon cardi for £35
- Cropped identical cardis from Primark in yellow, light green and grey for £6 (when will I learn?)
I find wedge shoes are great for wearing when you're a bit of a cankle sufferer.
So, I have two queries to be going on with:
- What will look as good on curvy girls as the long gypsey skirts of last year? Clearly shorts are O-U-T!
- I need to buy a "knock his socks off" dress/outfit for a summer ball, where the former love of my life will be with his new partner. I'd like to show off my boobs, but can't fit into the size 16 prom dresses in Warehouse. Also, I find covering my bingo wings a prob - any suggestions?
Love Valentine xxx

Hi I'm a 14 - 16 bottom half so I hope I can join in if thats ok :)!
So far my spring/summer purchaces have been a bit few and far between!
I am a big fan of skirts in the summer, and have bought a beautiful white just below knee length (on me anyway because I'm a shorty) double layer skirt, with vertical stitching detail and a bow at the waist line, from Miss Selfridge. I am planning on dressing it up with high wedges and beaded and sequinned tops, and down wth plain vests and flip flops. This is it in stone.
I also need to get some more white linen trousers. I find these so flattering, and again I can wear them dressed down or up for evenings with nice accessories and tops.
My big thing of the summer will definately be wedges, as they are comfy (usually ) and practical for walking on grass and sand, as heels just sink in and get ruined, and most importantly they are flattering an lengthen my legs and give me some height!

Oo sorry, I was going to suggest a prom style dress I have found these to be great and very flattering. Have you tried looking else where for one?

Hi Ladies,
For summer I love that 50s rivera look/dolce vita look. I love fitted dressess in block colours and little coloured cardis with co-ordinating accessories and shoe or nude/ gold shoes to make my legs look longer and hopefully slimmer, with big catseye shaped sunnies.
I also desided last year that I love top to toe white! I used to avoid light colours as darks are more sliming but the lighter colours make my skin look so much better.
I did have a couple of long gypsyish skirts last summer, and next has a couple of really nice plain full skirts which i think you could wear this year, but i think I will be sticking to 3/4 length pencil skirts (I have linen & broderie) and the M&S wide leg linen trousers, this year I think I will by the chocolate as well as white.
I also wear a lot of fitted crew neck cap sleeve ts in the summer, which I would never do normally, but they seam to make my bust look larger and perkier which cancels out the bingo wings;) . I alway wear a long necklace or strand of long pearls or bead to break up the bust and elongate my outline.
I have been thinking about trying this dress on Principles as long as it isn`t too full around the hips, you could dress it with any colour of asseories and it covers the worst part of my arms but shows the bust.
I will have a look out for some dresses for you valentine as I love the prom dress style and I couldn`t squeese my self into the strippy or satin warehouse ones (although I do have 2 warehouse proms which fit from previous seasons).
Sorry for the essay but I think in essance I like simple slim silloettes with bright sassy accessories.
Ps attached is a gratuatous photo of my new spring shoes

I love that Principles dress Jayne!!! with those shoes... just stunning! did you say on another thread somewhere that it comes in black?
I am a 14 but short and I am going for the 50s silhouette this summer too. I've discovered that pencil skirts aren't quite as unforgiving as I thought they might be, and I've always loved the fitted top and full skirt look. Really loving the DP sundress I got on Thursday!
Lst year I bought some gypsy skirts which were great but I just don't feel right in them this year and will give them a rest - they'll probably be back in 2007! I did buy some printed full knee length skirts and I'll wear those again, and probably purchase some more.
