A level question- a bit unethical!
A level question- a bit unethical!
Hiya, just a quick one, FAO those who have done/are doing A levels!
I've got my exams soon, have 2 exams a day for 3 days (so 6 altogether), which is quite a lot, but I know it used to be even harder years ago, so I'm not going to moan too much.
However, we have resits for AS exams failed, in January. I know it's totally unethical and not fair on everyone else who has to struggle, but would it be at all possible just to 'miss' an exam (like say I'm ill or whatever) and do it in January- with a view to balancing them out a bit?
I know effectively it's cheating the system, but just wondered what your thoughts were on it?
I would only do it with one of my say, sociology papers, so I could focus on the other one more heavily.
AS is just half the year, which counts towards A2, so I don't know what I'd come out with if I missed the one exam- probably a C or something, then could change that mark, having done the January resits?
Any thoughts?

I don't see what the point would be? Also, your school evidently doesn't support splitting the modules up into January/Summer exams else it would have done it. You'll end up having one shot at the exam instead of two, and I'm not sure if it's that simple to say "I'm ill". The Board would surely have to be informed. Interview, forms, things signed?

Id just go for it and do them anyway, a lot of my exams were close together last year but its ok and if you do worse than you hoped you can always resit again in January anyway. You wont be the only one with lots of exams together so I wouldnt worry.
Dont they charge you for missing an exam?
Good luck!

edited to add that I agree- I dont think its as simple as saying you're ill- they are external exams, not just a test so it must be more complicated than that!

well you'd probably need a doctor's note and you'd pretty much certainly have to pay for your "re-sit" and you'll have forgotten everything by january. so i wouldn't do it, no.

Thanks for replies, I guess you're right, I might aswell just do it!
I really wanted to do one of the modules in January, and we were all set to do it, but because noone does any work in my class our teacher called it off because he thought we'd all fail!
You get charged £20 for a resit I think, so not too bad.
Was genuinely ill for one of my GCSE papers ages ago, I can't remember what happened now, felt too ill to care at the time, but I think they took my marks from the others and combined it, not sure though, they might have just not counted the paper at all!
Hazybabe I think they're would be a way of getting out of it tbh, but you're right, might aswell just get on with it, and hope i have other exams to break up the course next Jan for A2!
