Trip to London!! day into night outfit.....
Hi girlies,
This is my first post on the fashion forum... so a big hello
......although I must admit that i've been lurking here for some time now so I know how fashion savvy you all are.
Basically my dilemma is that I am taking my mum to London for her birthday tomorrow... we have plans to go shopping in the day and then I have a table booked for dinner at 5.30 and then we're off to the theatre to see The Lion King :yay: ..... and maybe (probably) go for a drink in Covent Garden afterwards !!
The problem is I just don't know what I can wear that will take me from day into night. Obviously I will want to be comfy to travel up to London and shop during the day but how can I choose an outfit which which will also be suitable for dinner, theatre and drinkies??
What do u girls think?? Is this even possible?
Thanks in advance

It is definitely possible. I don't think people will be too dressed up in the restaurant at 5.30 and pretty much anything goes in the theatre audience unless its an opening night.
I think the most important thing is to think about what footwear you are going to wear - something comfortable enough to walk around in all day but smart enough for going out in. Once you've decided on this, you can then pick an outfit that goes with the shoes/boots.

Agree with Sandancer, it won't be dressy in the restaurant or theatre really. What restaurant are you going to?
What about straight leg jeans, a comfortable pair of platform or small heeled shoes, white shirt and belt? That's day and night. Or you could just pop a top in a bag and change into that.
During the week you'll find it pretty casual wherever you go really.

id say skinny jeans tucked into boots, and a nice top thats quite night time-ish, then just put ur jacket or whatever over it for the day.i often see people with their jeans/boots on night time as well as the day .. (if that makes any sense at all ) so i rekon that would look ratha nice ! :)

Yup, the key is in the shoes! Layering is also important, since you can quite dramatically change the look of an outfit by taking off a cardigan, say.
I do this quite a lot, and usually go for things like:
-- A wrap dress with a colourful vest underneath and maybe matching shoes, perhaps with a couple of bits of cool jewellery and an interesting jacket, paired with either ultra-comfy Mary Janes or round-toed boots (depending on the weather)
-- Cute, girly skirt (I have a brown one with scattered sequins that's ideal for this) with a plain tee shirt, ballet pumps, a cute cardigan for the day, jacket if needed and a pretty necklace or earrings
-- A rather stereotypically 'me' outfit so maybe not to everyone's taste: gauchos, comfy kitten heels or Mary Janes, maybe tights should you need them, embellished vest over a plain tee shirt, cardigan or jacket. Take the tee shirt off once you get to the restaurant to smarten the look up.
An obstensibly slightly more eveningy dress can work during the day, worn with flat ballet shoes and a cardigan; take the cardigan off once you want to look a bit smarter.
