Circumcision Question.....

Our 6 yo son's Circumcision doesn't look right, Its as if his "thingy" hides all the time. I've asked the Dr. about it several times over the years and he assured me it was done properly....The reason I am asking this NOW is we just had boy and girl twins. Our 7 week old son's "thingy" looks like my husbands NO extra skin.

Then yesterday at a family reunion I was talking to my cousin as she was changing her 2 year old son and his "thingy" was SO much bigger than our 6 year olds. Hubby and I had talked (several years ago) about how we thought it had stopped growing.

I feel like such an idiot talking about this, But I don't know how to talk to the Dr. about it, and wondered if anyone else's child had this problem

I am going to ask the Dr. again when I take him in June for his check up, I am going to take my neice with us and have her to take him out while I talk to the Dr. I don't want him to think there is something wrong with him. :-(

I am so glad you asked this, as I have the same concerns for my stepson. He is 10.5 years old, I've been his stepmom since he was 3 and I swear to you it has not grown in this time. If anything it looks smaller now because the rest of his body has grown, but his "thingy" hasn't. I know it may sound wierd that I know what my stepson's "thingy" looks like at this age, but he has encopresis which is severe constipation and we have to look in the toilet before he flushes to make sure he is passing stool and that it's not too firm. His also looks like it's hiding all of the time, it never pokes out. His is very tiny. My 4 year old was born with a bigger "thingy" than my stepson has now, and my 4 yr old's has continues to grow as he has, this is the same with my 6 month old, his is bigger than the 10.5 year old's. And their's look like they're poking out all of the time, they never hide. (Their foreskin never comes over the tip) I have tried to talk to my husband about this several times, but he takes it as a blow to his pride for one of his sons to be "small". (silly, huh?) I am looking forward to reading any and all replies to this post. I hope it's nothing serious. Like in your case, the drs have never said anything negative about it. My best friend's son is 14 months old and he has the same problem, but his looks like the foreskin has reattached around the rim. You can't poke it out even if you try. When I used to bathe my stepson when he was 3 and 4 I would push his foreskin back to clean it and it always moved freely, so I don't think that's the problem. ???? It's very puzzling and troublesome. Thanks again for posting this, hopefully we'll get some answers. Take care!!

Brandy Penis's are very variable. Sometimes they are very small but 'grow' to a normal size when aroused. Sometimes it is big and doesn't grow that much. The best thing is to ask a doctor and rule out any medical problem. It definitely does not sound like concealed or trapped penis because it would be trapped in the pubic fat bad and would be very noticeable.

A large pubic fat pad is contraindicative for a circumcision so the only way a circumcision would cause a trapped or concealed penis would be if the doctor disregarded the condition at birth. Trapped or concealed penis also happens just as frequently in boys who are not circumcised.

Sounds like you have done the right thing by getting the doctor's opinion. By all means, if you don't agree with what he says get a second opinion.

Our Dr. said that he is over weight and that is part of the reason why. He said when he pushed on the fatty tissue around the Penis it pops out and is normal size for his age. He also said that when he hit puberty (sp) that it would take off growing.

I haven't decided if I am going to accept that answer or get a second opinion. The Dr. may be absolutley right but I'd hate to find out when our son is 14 yrs old that he was wrong.

Anyone have a child that hit puberty and it take off growing??

This can be due to an impropper cirumcision or a number of other reasons. A friend of mine has a son who has this. You really cannot see his penis at all. But with him if you push on the fat pad that is around it the penis will come out a bit more. Check out some info about "hidden penis" it is a medical condition. Most liely the penis is there, but something is preventing it from coming out of the body in a flacid state.

Hope this helps a bit. The boy I knew ended up have his surgery redone at about 3 years of age, but I do not know what the end result was as it too is a very sensitive subject for the parents to talk about.
