Pink Eye??
My almost 2-year old son has a cold with a runny nose and a little cough, but he also has been having a yellow-green discharge from his eyes, moreso from the left one. When he woke up today, it looked like boogers in his eyelashes and I had to use a warm washcloth to clean it up. His eye isn't pink or red and he isn't complaining or touching it. He's never had this drainage before. Is it from his cold, or maybe a seasonal allergy (he has no known allergies), or do you think he could have pink eye?
Answers:
It'd be best to take him to the doctor. Whether it is pinkeye or another type of infection, I always worry when someone describes discharge as "yellow-green." An antibiotic could clear it right up, and both you and your son would feel better.

My daughter gets conjuctivitis (pink eye) every time she gets an ear infection and her ped told me that with some kids they go hand in hand. I'd bring him in to be seen just to be on the cautious side.
Answers:
Pink eye/ conjunctivitis is not always bacterial. It can be viral as well. As long as his eye is not red and he is not in pain I would chalk it up to viral and just use a warm cloth to clean the drainage.

Thanks for your advice. His eyes are not red and he is not in pain, so I'm pretty sure it's not pinkeye. Somebody told me he probably has an eye cold. It's just the drainage that is driving me crazy. I've been using a lot of warm washcloths and eye drops and eye gel and it seems to be helping.
