Child getting blood drawn-can he go to any lab?

My son, who will be 7 next month needs to have blood drawn for allergy testing. In the past I have brought him to the childrens hospital to get it done. I'm wondering if I can just take him to the ***** lab that is much closer to where I live, or does he have to be a certain age?

Labs dont usually have any age limitations for drawing blood. I have a handicapped child who is usually a very hard stick (very hard to hit his veins just right to get the blood) and has blood work drawn often, so when ever i take him to the lab i always insist that their best and most experienced Phlebotomist do the draw to save my son from undue pain of having to be stuck several times.

Good Luck,

Thanks! I wasn't sure if there needs to be a certain size needle. Off to the lab this morning.

You can get this type of testing done right at your childs docs office.you do not have to actually go to a lab for this.marcia

No, he gets the RAST blood test. They do not do blood tests there. It's different than the skin testing, which is done right at the doc's office.
