Toddler rectal bleeding

Ever since my toddler has been potty trained and has a bowel movement she had some rectal bleeding. I knew at first it was just because she was pushing too hard, but it is still happening every now and then. I try and give her as much fruit as possible, and I tell her to "poop little." Should I be worried?
Answers:

she shouldn't bleed from pushing too hard. it could be the size of the bowel movement. that is probably what is causing it. there are little things called fisures in the rectum that can tear when having a large bowel movement. i would talk to her dr. maybe she should be on a stool softener. try giving her lots of prune juice and things high in fiber. as a mother of a toddler, i know feeding a child prunes is not easy, but my kids love apple prune and other mixtures of prune juices. but i would talk to her dr. just to be sure what it is. good luck.

My child had that problem when she was 5mths old and still has it to this day (shes 3 now) and my doctor prescribed a medicine called Lactulose. Its a stool softener and it draws water into the bowl so its not a stimulant. The only problem I have found with it is it only comes in one flavour, orange, and its quite bitter so its hard to hide it in juices. Other than that its been a godsent.
