Testicle problems
My 4 year old son seen the dr. a few weeks ago and he noticed he only had 1 testcicle in the sac so he scheduled an ultrasound for today. The person giving the u/s found the 2nd testicle up in his groin area..way up there...she couldn't give me much information until the dr. sees the report.....anyone know any info on this? what can we expect? is this normal? I am hoping we can avoid surgery and it will drop on its own...Thanks in advance!

That is called a hernia. and yes, surgery is a cure. My 21 yr old son had this surgery when he was 2. The younger you catch it the better. My husband has had a hernia his whole life and no one caught it. He now has some pain with this and needs surgery at 53....that testicle can get caught and strangled and could cut off blood supply. You need to have the surgery and be done with it. It is not a life threatening surgery and kids bounce back so fast....

My brother had a problem with this. He was about six I think. (he is much younger than me so I remember taking care of him) The way our doctor explained it, the testicles just didn't drop like they were supposed to when he was a baby. He had surgery and a couple weeks later he was back to normal. He also had other surgeries at the same time (complete reconstruction) partly because of his disability (down syndrome). He was out of the hospital the next day though and he does great now. I hope everything works out for you. I'm sure it will all turn out fine.

My son had an "undecended testicle" which they did surgery on and brought the other one down. He is now 40 years old and has two beautiful children. When you stop to think how many years ago, that was, they should have no problem taking care of your little boys problem....Don't worry, it is common.
Good luck, Sheila
