Worried about DD.

My DD just turned two on the 13th. For awhile now she has been looking really bad. Dark circles, sometimes bags under eyes. Telling me she is tired and then going and getting in her bed in the middle of the day even after her last nap of the day. She just looks just so tired all the time. I am worried. Talked with her ped about this. My DD also has asthma and allergies. We did change her bed to a new toddler bed. We left the mattres the same. She has been in a toddler bed for sometime now. So i wouldn't think would be that. Since the only part of the bed we change is the frame. She goes to be between 8 and 9 and get up around 7. Then takes a nap for 2 hours at 9 and then another 2 hours at 1. Doctor think she isn't getting in enough hours at night if she is going to be at 9. She also said people with allergies have troubles getting into that deep sleep we need. That we may need to change her allergy meds to a new one. Right now she is on clartin 2tsp daily and nasonex 1 spray in nostril daily. She said to try to get her on a better night time schedule and see how that goes for a couple of weeks. If not better then she will change her clartin to zyertc.
Well friday was her Dr's appointment. She was doing fine. Then that evening she started acting funny. We where at the mall shopping. It wasn't late. She wanted to lay down and was not looking good. Felt her felt warm, but not fever warm. Then the longer we where there the warmer she started to feel. Then when we got home she was running a fever of 102.4. She has also been really attached to be lately. Wanting me to sleep in her room or lay with me and watch tv. Then tues night we where on our way home from my mom's. We where almost home. She started yelling mommy mommy and holding our her arms wanting me. I told her i couldn't hold her i was driving. Then the next thing i know she just started throwing up all over and couldn't stop. No signs of not feeling well at all tues. Played good, ate good, slept and no fever. After getting sick she seemed to be fine. Just like she was the rest of the day. Only other thing is she woke up for a few minutes crying. I didn't bother her and she went back to sleep in like 5 min. She just never wakes up since she was 6 weeks old unless something is wrong. I just don't understand what is going on with her. Any ideas. I am worried.

Did her ped actually ever do any blood work on her at that last visit?if not,she needs to have a full check up with all of the basic bloodwork done as well.she quite obviously is suffering from something going on inside her body.the bloodwork would at least possibly give you a clue as to whats going on.

this could be some sort of virus or something such as an actual disease/condition type thing.the important thing is to get the check up along with a full blood work up.this would reveal any abnormalities within specific body system functions such as liver or kidney problems along with just checking on levels of her electrolyes and body chemistry.the bloodwork is crucial for a Dx of whatever is causing this.if for some reason(tho i cannot imagine any ped not wanting to do this)her doc wont actually do those simple labs, demand they be done.your daughters condition just cannot continue this way.i am sure you, just having to watch her go thru this is more than enough incentive to act today and get her seen as soon as possible.i know that some children just are naturally more sleepy or sleep more than others but in her case,i do think it is indicative of her actual illness.it just sounds like a bit too much, you know what i mean?

i really would try and get her in today if possible.i hope its just a virus or something simple that will run its course soon.please keep me posted on what you find out.good luck, marcia

Thanks for your advice. She didn't do any bloodwork at her last visit. Just said that she thought it could be allergy problems. Right now she wasn't getting enough sleep at night. She needs at least 10 hours a night then at least one nap. Which she takes two naps a day. She said that was great, but 10 hours at night. She has always been a good sleeper and just started actting like this in the last few weeks. I haven't talked to her about the sudden and quick fever or the sudden vomiting. That all happened after her appointment. My DD has always been a sick child.Ear infections, asthma problems, flu once, roseolea colds all the time that affect her asthma.I am starting to feel like maybe they think i am crazy. She is my first child. I call about everything and take her in all the time it seems like. Every time something hasn't been right.
The other day i found out my daycare hasn't been giving my dd her nasnoex lately. I am not sure for how long she hasn't been getting it. I wounder if this isn't part of the problem.I also talked with my mom about the sudden vomiting. She did say that my dd got old of a flower stem and had it in her mouth. Didn't eat it or chew on it. My mom caught her and got it out of her mouth. Maybe got a little in her. I was just a four o clock.
She is also really restless at night. All over the bed. Which she never use to due. I am just so not sure what is going on. The new things since i posted is yester day her right eye was so puffy and dark. It looked just awful. Thanks for your help. I just hate to see her like this. It just breaks my heart.

Hi Brwneyez,

I'm really sorry to hear about what your dd is going through, poor thing. Just reading about it breaks me heart cause I have a 1 year old and a 3 year old, and I know how badly I feel when they aren't feeling well. I agree though about getting some blood work done. Hopefully that can pinpoint something, or at least rule out somethings. Hopefully it is just some sort of a weird viral thing, there are so many of them anymore. But hang in there, and keep us posted on how she's doing.

Does she snore? If she does, does it build up, and up, and then stop, with a little choking-type sound? She might have sleep apnea. It might be well worth your while to have her tested for it. I had these symptoms forever, and when the medical community finally understood what was going on, and developed tests for it, obstructive sleep apnea was what it turned out to be. I sleep attached to an air compressor called a CPAP, with a mask over my nose and mouth. It has made all the difference.
