sleep apnea

anyone's child ever have this? My toddler is almost 2 and he get's lots of sleep and naps but he can't keep himself awake and i mean even if he falls asleep in the store sitting up in the cart and we try to wake him it becomes almost impossible. it's not like he wakes up at night or doesnt get naps. all he wants to do is sleep and at first i thought it was a blessing but i am starting to get concerned. he falls asleep sitting up and he just wont stay awake with lots of sleep he has had already. if we are at a friends he sometimes stays awake when he would rather sleep here but normally you can entertain a toddler and they stay awake and enjoy it while he just stares off in space and falls asleep sitting up. they also think he may be on autism spectrum so i have no idea if that has anything to do with it

Maybe Narcolepsy?
Answers:

This sounds very much like a sleep disorder, either sleep apnea or narcolepsy.
I have sleep apnea. He needs to be tested in a sleep lab. All they do is attach a bunch of electrodes attached to monitors, and tell you to wiggle your leg so they can tell it is working, and let you go to sleep. With me, I wear a mask attached to an air compressor, which pumps air into the back of my throat, preventing any blockage, and fixing the apnea.
I knew I had a problem, when I was always tired at age 17. It wasn't until my 40s that they figured out what was causing it.
Best of luck to you and yours.
