High Cholesterole in 7 year old?
My daughter went for a non fasting blood test. It was her yearly physical and I was shocked when the doctor told me her total cholesterol was 250 and her tryg were 200?? How is this possible at such a young age?
She doesn't eat that badly. She eats lots of good food, except fruits because she's allergic to practically all of them. And she hates cheeses, milk and creams. She eats cookies and ice cream like any other child. So I am baffled.
We are out of the country right now, but when we get back we will be doing a fasting but how low can a fasting really bring the real numbers if they are this high?

I have the exact same problem with my seven year old. On her dad's side, everyone is slim and fit, for the most part. On my side, we do deal with weight and diabetes, but the thing is she has two older siblings, and neither of them have this issue. She doesn't eat worse than them, but now I find myself, every time she sticks anything in her mouth, worrying, is that going to take it up points? Is she going to have serious health problems? The doctor just pats me on the head, and tells me to feed her better. We do not eat fast food, and I cook as healthy as a limited budget will let me, and they said no meds could fix this. I hope your doctor takes it more seriously than hers, I am scared to death about it personally.

I am pretty sure kids can get high cholesterol from hereditary. No matter what they eat it may not come down without meds,Which is awful to think of in a child to be having to take cholesterol meds. I hope it does come down naturally for you.
