I'm worried about my 3 yr old - unusual tiredness
Hello everyone,
I am new to this but need some guidance. about 10 days ago my son feel ill. It started with a croup like cough, then vomiting, then fever and now he still has a bad could - chest congestion, runny nose and cough. He is on antibiotics - He seems very tired and sleepy. I know this could be the cold or flu causing it but here is the thing. In the past once he would get over the fever he woudl return to his normal wild self - he has always been very active, and I am now scared to see him like this. Should I be concerned or could this all be related to the cold.
He is 3 years old and speech delayed so he cannot really tell me what is going on.
I am very worried !!!!

He could very well have a secondary infection like a sinus infection, even though he is on an antibiotic. This could explain the sleepiness and lethargy. Some simple antibiotics don't cover sinus infections, and so he may need a more powerful one. When he finishes the antibiotic and if he still doesn't seem his normal self, I would take him back in, and especially watch for clues like pulling on ears, runny nose, face tender to touch, slight fever, etc. Your pediatrician should be able to figure it out.
