3 year old DD regression in PT
Hello! We were so thrilled to finally have my 3 year old DD be PT. We have worked on this for a year before she finally decided it was time. I even trusted her enough to let her be in underwear during her nap. At night, I would still use a pull up even though most mornings she was dry. About 4 days ago, she decided to regress. Now, she won't sit on the potty, and when she does, she will say "I don't want to". I am so confused. I am preg, but the baby isn't due until August. I expect something like this then, but not now. Any suggestions?? I have to keep a pull up on her, otherwise she has gone back to holding it until you put one on her, and I don't want to give her a bladder infection! I am at a loss for what to do.

Hi Dettmer, anything else changed lately? When I was training my two year old she was doing well and then my sister-in-law came to stay for a few months. It was really stressful for me because I had some issues with her at the time. My two year old really regressed with training so I put it on the back burner for a bit until things settled down. She was a two year old, though.

Well, I feel dumb, b/c our house burned down about a month ago. However, she just started this. I don't know if things take awhile to happen in children, but she was doing very well at our new place. Other than that, nothing has really changed. That was a big change, and I realize that...and I did think of it, but thought it would have happened sooner than this. Thanks!

We are sort of having the same problem with our 3 year old DD. She was doing great with pottying, and then 6 weeks ago I had surgery and was in the hospital for 4 days, and about 2 weeks after I came home, so didn't want to potty anymore. And we were so confused as to why, and she just kept saying "no". And at the same time she was being pretty clingy with me, so we figured out through trial and error that she was worried about me going back to the hospital. She didn't want to sit on the potty because she might come out and I wouldn't be here. And it took her 2 weeks after me coming home before she started doing that. So since then we have just backed off a little and reassured her everything is fine, and that mommy is fine, and slowly but surely she started wanting to go again. So since your house did burn down (which I am sorry to hear) maybe it's affecting her now, even a month later. Who knows sometimes what goes through their minds. So my advice would be just keep trying with her but don't pressure too much, and hopefully she'll start back in again. Good luck!
