Spotting during intercourse
I've posted about this concern a few times before on this board but I wanted to check again as new members join each day I'm sure.
Have any of you ever had bleeding/spotting during sex while you were on the pill but at no other time aside from your period?
If so, how did you stop it? Another bc pill? Quit altogether?
I'd like to hear your experiences!

This is why I worry. Over 40 people have read this topic and apparently have not experience this type of bleeding. Please post if you have.

SweatPea,
I actually have experienced this problem in the past ( although it has been at least 3 years since it's happend. ) I was on the pill at the time. I was very worried and made an appointment with my gyno immediately. They did a regular pap and pelvic exam and then an internal ultra sound. That wasn't a fun exam, but it eased my worries. There are a lot of things that can cause this to happen, ranging from an infection to endometriosis to ovarian cancer. But I honestly wouldn't worry too much. You should, however, make an appointment to talk to a doctor to make sure it's nothing serious. In my case, I was diagnosed with a slight infection...it actually cleared on it's own...doc said it wasn't bacterial, which means it wouldn't have responded to antibiotics. Anyway, long story short, all these exams found nothing serious and put my mind at ease. You SHOULD see a dr. I think spotting during or after intercourse is actually more common than you think. Not to make light of it, because any time you feel something isn't right with your body, a dr. should be involved. Good Luck. Take care. Please try not to worry. Breakthrough bleeding on bcp is quite common, also. Your doc might not even reccommend you come in for an exam. Please give us an update.

This has been going on for me for like two years. It started when I switched to Orthotricyclen Lo....it would always happen if I had sex the week before my period, but no other time. After switching around between pills over the summer it was still happening. I've seen my doctor probably four times about it. He insists it's hormonal. I've had two paps and they were both clear. I would think if it were something more serious I'd have other symptoms by now, but who knows, I'm not a doctor. I stopped taking birth control two months ago. I've only had sex once since then and I didn't bleed. But I still worry it will happen again which is why I'm not having sex.
