I need help trying to figure something out...
I've been taking Ortho Tri-Cyclen Lo for a couple years now... I just recently switched to Loestrin24Fe. I'm half way done the first set of pills...
Here's the problem... I've been taking them everyday and haven't missed a beat... However, I've found that suddenly today I'm experiencing random acute cramps and am bleeding as though it were that time of the month when I'm more than a week away from when it should be starting.
Is it possible to get pregnant while taking birth control? Is it possible that I might be? What should I do? Should I be worrying about this? Should I call my doctor? I've never switched birth control pills before so I don't know if this is a normal side effect or not. Someone, please answer this!

I don't think you're pregnant. It is possible to have random side effects on the pill, especially the first 3 months after switching to a new pill. These include: cramps, nausea, backaches, sore breasts, breakthrough bleeding. If the side effects don't go away in 3 months, you might need a new pill. I just stopped hormonal birth control altogether, the side effects had me fed up. It's possible to become pregnant on the pill but not very likely especially if you are not skipping pills and take them at a regular time and aren't on antibiotics. It's something like less than a 1% chance.
Also be aware that Loestrin often causes women to sometimes not have a period or just light spotting during the placebo pills, so don't freak out if you don't have a period on it.
