Loestrin 24 Fe questions for gf
Hello ladies,
I have a few questions for my girlfreind's sake.
First of all, she has been using Loestrin 24 without any trouble for 3 months now. The instructions state that for the first pack, take the pill for up to a week before having unprotected sex. My question is, after the first pack (into the 2nd and third) should we be using proctection when she is taking the iron placebos, or is it okay to continue until she starts the next pack?
I would be confused if you needed to worry about using a backup methods each month while taking the pill, so I'm assuming no. But if so, let me know.
Also, I've read here that there are many women with little to no period. She is on the 3rd month, and she has not gotten her period yet. It should be soon, but just in case she doesn't, I'd like for her (and me) to not freak out!
Thanks!
Answers:
She is protected during the placebo pills as long as she's been taking the other pills properly (taking them around the same time of day is best, not skipping pills, or on antibiotics or having diarrhea or throwing up which might compromise the effectiveness of the pill).
It's not unusual to have no period or just some spotting on Loestrin. I did not take Loestrin long enough to find out since it had a bad effect on my sex drive and mood. Hopefully, some women with more experience on Loestrin can answer that question.

losing ur pd can happen on this pill, but if you guys are really concerned that she hasnt gotten it, you could always take a test just to set ur minds at ease.
