early period
I have been on Loestrin 24 fe for almost two months now...so far everything has been fine for the most part until this week I had bleeding almost as heavy as a period and slight cramping like a period that has lasted 4 and half days so far. The thing is that I am not due to start my period until tommorow so it came like 6 days early. Is that normal on this pill or something really weird? I know that they say you may experience break through bleeding but this felt more like a period than that so I am not sure. Any answers would be greatly appreciated!

What you experienced was breakthrough bleeding, sometimes it can be heavy and not light or spotting. You will likely have another period on the placebo pills (or not, loestrin causes some women not to have a period on the placebo pills). If the breakthrough bleeding gets worse next month or bothersome, you may have to call your doc and get on a higher estrogen pill to control the breakthrough bleeding. Do you take your pills at the same time every day? Sometimes, taking your pill even an hour earlier or later can prompt breakthrough bleeding or missing a pill and having to double up the dose can cause it as well. But breakthrough bleeding can also be random and can happen even when you take your pill exactly the same time every day and don't miss pills.
