help...i have acne w/out b/c
I stopped taking yasmin about 3 months ago. I've never had a problem with acne until recently. This isn't just a few whiteheads here and there...these are huge pimples and of course I pick and now I have scarring. I've tried the dermatologist...OBAGI...super expensive...did not work. Arbonne...not the trick. This is a hormonal thing...how long until this will pass? I don't want to go back on the pill...but I look horrible and my confidence is bad too. Any suggestions...help

Have you tried the vitamin regimen after stopping BCPs? BCPs deprive your body of many essential vitamins and minerals. I started taking some vitamins after stopping BCPs and while my skin is a bit oilier than before, it is not super bad. I am taking a balanced vitamin B-complex (biotin especially is good for the skin), zinc, magnesium (mag. citrate or chelated magnesium is easier on the stomach than mag. oxide), and Omega 3 (fish oil) and Omega 6 (evening primrose oil or flaxseed oil is a good source). In particular, I feel the B vitamins and Omega 3 & Omega 6 have helped my skin. It's not a miracle by any means, but I do feel it has made a positive difference in my skin. I've also been using the Olay Regenerist skin care system and have had success with that.
Though--I've not had super major break-outs since stopping the pill, so your case may be different. I did start the vitamins about a month after quitting BCPs.

Thank you for the advice. I do not want to go back to the pill, although I've experienced long PMS days and I havn't been the same...then with the acne it's been really hard for me. I'm 32 and I know I have a higher chance of certain cancers after 35. Plus I don't really believe in being on the pill. Do you know if this is natural for our bodies to take 3 months to adjust without the pill? I'm sure the owner at the health food store will love me when I show up tomorrow with a new list of items...hope this works...my patience are wearing thin. Will the primrose help with PMS?
Thanks again

I'm over 8 months off the pill and feel my body is STILL adjusting. My periods are not normal yet.
I do feel evening primrose oil also helps with PMS though mine is not major. Good luck! I hope these supplements will help you too!

If you don't want to continue BCP's, how about Accutane? I think it's an oral medication. I know someone who was treated with this years ago and has never had acne since. Although if you are trying to get pregnant you can't be treated with this med.
