quick question
when you switch pills, do you generally get the side effects all over again, like when you first started BC pills? I'm switching from yaz to ortho tri cyclen lo(i start them tonight)...its a slightly higher estrogen, and slightly lower progestin than yaz...Just curious if I would get my side effects all over again?

There is really no way to tell how you will individually react. Some patients make the transition with no noticible side effects, others do.

I just meant is it expected? Like how you expect side effects when you FIRST start BC pills. Is it expected to get side effects when you switch?
I would think you really wouldn't have them because you have already have BC hormones in your body already. I guess I;m hoping to hear people say "oH I had no problem switching pills, i had no side effects" ya know? I was nervous enough starting yaz and now im switching to ortho tri cyclen lo so those nerves are kicking in again. Thanks for your reply...and Id like to hear about more experiences from anyone who ahs switched pills.

i have never personally switched birth control pills, but i am currently taking the generic brand of orthotricyclin and i never had any side effects to begin with. However, my friend, when she switched pills, didnt have her period for several months as a side effect. I have also heard of people getting a lot of clotting blood when they get their period, after they have switched. this all regulates with time. Overall, i've never heard of any really serious side effects from switching the pill, but everyone reacts differently to the different doses of hormones.
