Got my test results back and I'm freaking....
Wow, I really don't know how to feel about this. I was not planning on having kids, but finding out that my FSH is 39.7....is daunting. The nurse told me that anything over 30 is considered menopausal.
What is confusing the doctor is my estradiol level is 344. Menopausal ranges for estradiol are 20 or under. Normal estradiol ranges are 187-382. He said that each month, ovaries make healthy estrogen secreting cysts based on these numbers....a 50 count of estrogen for each cyst. So 344 is representing that I made 6 cysts this month, which released estrogen into the bloodstream for heart, bone, and vaginal health.
My prolactin is 14.8...normal ranges 2.8-29.2. What does prolactin represent?
THS is 1.26...normal ranges .35 to 5.0.
I'm going in to have a progesterone test taken on the 5th of March, the 21st day of this month's cycle....as well as testosterone.
I just feel really disturbed about all this...even though the nurse said that in 6months, if the results come back the same, there's probably nothing to worry about. I just don't see how this is possible... if the FSH marker says otherwise. I know you're not doctors, but what do you guys think of all this?

vintage,
I really don't know much about the test numbers, maybe you could contact the mod under the report post button and ask them to move this to the hormone problems board? People there might be better able to help you.

Do you think you're having certain problems or symptoms due to these levels? It would drive me crazy trying to understand all those levels on my own. I'd have all the results in and then ask the doctor, okay, do I need more of a certain hormone or less somehow?
I had test levels done last summer and I went on the pill, per the NP's suggestion. And it did the trick for what I was going thru at the time.
I hope you get some peace of mind soon in the way of answers.

prolactin is a hormone that your body releases during pregnancy that stimulates milk production. and do you know your LH level? usually when u have a 3:1 ratio with the lh and fsh, it CAN indicate polycystic ovarian syndrome (PCOS) there are a whole bunch of other labs associated with that though. the estradiol levels are more accurte in distinguishing menopause (although u do have to corrolate everything together) so i wouldnt worry about being in early menopause just yet.
good luck!
