Ortho-TriCyclen Lo

Has anyone tried this pill? I need feedback please. I've tried so many different pills after being on Ortho-TriCyclen for 10 years. I've tried desogen, loestrin, yaz, and mircette and none of them worked for me. I even tried going off the pill and it's been 6 months now and things are worse. I have very bad cramping, major mood swings, 2, sometimes 3 periods a month, and acne breakouts since going off.

Today was my annual Dr. appt and the Dr told me to try Ortho-TriCyclen Lo for a couple of months to see if it's for me. Can someone PLEASE give me information on their experience with it?

Thanks,
Shae

It may work fine for some, but I didn't have the best experience with it (though it wasn't the worst pill either). The main side effects were low libido (especially over time) and (this was the most annoying) tons and tons of breakthrough bleeding. I took the pill properly even at the same time each morning, no antibiotics or meds, diarrhea or throwing up to prompt breakthrough bleeding and still had breakthrough bleeding. Apparently, OTC-Lo is notorious for causing breakthrough bleeding. When I quit it, I was bleeding 3 weeks of every month though the first couple of months I had NO breakthrough bleeding, it only showed up over time.

The positives, I suppose, were good skin (though really all BC pills cleared my skin) and I didn't gain weight.

Thank you for the info - have you ever tried the regular orthotricylene?

Low sex drive is something I DONT want to deal with...that was an issue I had with some of the others.

I'm surprised your doctor put you on OTC Lo if you were already having problems with OTC. That doesn't make a lot of sense. Are you sure this person has the necessary background to be a doctor? You might want to look at getting a new doctor, one who actually knows a thing or two about medications and how people react to certain meds and such. It sounds pretty stupid to me that you'd get OTC Lo when you already had an issue with OTC. Doesn't make much sense. What a stupid doctor!
