Depo-Provera question
My girlfriend uses Depo-Provera. She was late for her shot because she was thinking about getting off it. She was late by about 10 days.
She then decided to get her shot again yesterday.
Is it safe to have sex with her now? How long does it take for the drug to take full effect?
Thanks.

I was on the Dep shot and so were two of my friends at the same time. One friend already had two kids and she seemed to get pregnant easily. We each just got 2 shots and because of weight gain, decided not to continue and didn't switch to another form of birth control. None of had our periods the entire time while on the shot and mine didn't return until a year and 4 months after my last shot. My easily-impregnated friend finally got pregnant again after a year of un-protected sex, while my other friend got pregnant after a year and half. I've been trying to get pregnant for 10 months now with no such luck and have heard from others that the shot could cause infertility. It's been 3 years since I had the shot last. Does that help?

as long as you are not more than 14 days late, you are still protected.....
