About Yasmin

Just wanted to give an update on my experience with Yasmin so far, particularly for those considering this pill.

I've been taking Yasmin for about 8 months now.

From the start this pill was GREAT for me. It helped me with everything I chose this brand for, and more. It rid me of my menstral depression, and my wicked mood swings. I experienced extremely mild cramping that lasted less than a day, and only a few seconds at a time. My sugar cravings were down, and I wasn't getting my usual monthly break out. No bloating feeling. No BC weight gain either. My flow was alot lighter, and cut down on my tampon use! Over all.. this pill was great for me.

Now.. about 2 months ago I've noticed that I've started feeling down again around that time of the month. Actually for me, my "depression" ( I use that word only because it seems the best way to describe my emotional state.) starts about 1 week before my period, and sometimes lingers until about 1 week after my period ends. That's about 3 weeks of feeling miserable. So I noticed my old mopey self started to push it's way back through. This scares me. I hate feeling this way...

Everything else, the cramping, the skin improvemnts, ect.. have all remained improved. only the depression seems to be "coming back." I assume that my body is/has become use to the hormones, and in a sense has built a resistance. (thats the best way I can think to explain it.) Basically my body just got use to it. Either that or I'm acutally experiencing depression and should seek input from a doctor....

Anyhow.. now I debate ending my use of Yasmin. I can deal with a mild break out, the bloating and even the cramps again. It's the mood swings and depression that I don't want to learn to tolerate. And if this pill is no longer helping with my biggest concern.... why continue to pay $50 a month for it??

I've also heard that because of the possible health risks with BC, that a woman should give herself breaks from the pill. Someone told me that you should alternate between using and not in yearly intervals! Anyone else hear that??

I don't know.. I just wanted to share my experience, maybe see if anyone had any thoughts on the matter.

Thanks for reading.

I hated hated hated yasmin. aparently about half the people that use it have a horrible reaction to the synthetic hormone in it, and the other half takes to it like a fish in water.
i was in the first camp unfortunately.

having read posts on here before using Yasmin I realized, or it at least seemed, that girls not previously having experienced depression DID after starting Yasmin, and vice versa. As we all know, or come to learn.. its a learning process.. have to find the one that works best for your body. Unfortunately, it seems that this just isn't working for me anymore.

Thanks for the reply!
