Seasonal?
I was on Seasonal for about a year. I'm not sure why I agreed to go on it, but my OB kind of pushed it. (Of course she did...she probably got a huge kick back.)
Anyway, my husband and I have decided to go with the NFP method. We've been using condoms ever since, waiting for my body to go back to a natural cycle.
Anyway, I've had awful trouble after being off of it.
I stopped taking it in June. I had a regular period at that time, in June. I also had a period in July, which I thought was great because it was pretty decent timing for having been off of the BCP. And then I didn't have another period. I went to my doctor in November and he asked me to take one month of another BCP to jump start my body. I had a period in late November.
I just had another period within the last few weeks...and it has lasted over three weeks now. (I'm still on it now.) This doesn't make any sense at all.
Has anyone else had really awful recovery from Seasonal? I knew it might take awhile...but it's been almost a year and I feel as though I'll NEVER be on a regular schedule naturally again.
Answers:
I had to stop taking Seasonale due to blood clots in my lungs. I was surprised because I had a mostly normal cycle for about the first 6 months afterwards. I have PCOS, so I have always had messed up cycles and was shocked when I was somewhat "normal."
Were your cycles normal before you started taking BC?
Answers:
They weren't completely regular, but again, I started taking BCP at 16. How man 16 year olds are regular? So it's hard to say whether or not I would have gotten more regular.
But I know that even at 16, I didn't go 4 or 5 months without AF showing up. I might have skipped a month or so, but I was also a hardcore athlete. As in, 3 to 4 practices a day hardcore. So that could have been another thing affecting it.
I just don't understand...this pill was supposed to be "revolutionary" (according to my OB at the time) and right now I'm thinking that revolutionary is a bad thing.

Mine were never regular either. I had been on the pill since I was 15.
BUT....it turns out I have PCOS, and that was what was causing my cycle issues. It wasn't until my recent diagnosis and Metformin that my cycles are now a lot closer to "normal" and not 42+ days apart. Good luck, I hope you're able to get it all figured out.
