Should I buy a new car seat?
I am expecting baby number 2 in april and I still have DS's car seat and I am thinking about using it for the new baby. DS is only 18 months old so it was brand new in summer 2005. Is that too old to use or is it still safe, it hasnt been in any car accidents and is in really good shape. Money is really tight so I would love to not have to spend the money on a new car seat when this one seems fine to use. Any suggestions?

I have my daughter in 2003 then I bought a brand new seat. My nephew was born in 2006 and I gave him my daughter's seat. It cost 50-70 and it will be used until kid is 6 - 8 m. To me it seems perfectly fine to use.

We're using the car seat we bought in 2004 for baby #2. Ours also hasn't been in any accidents - if it had, we wouldn't use it. I should think it should be fine. You might want to check recalls though, just to be sure. Do a search on car seat recalls. I don't know if there are many that have been recalled, but it's worth checking out just in case.

You might want to check the manufacturer's website and make sure there is no recalls or safety concerns for that model. Other than that I see nothing wrong with using is.
